About

Hi, I am Agnė. My name (агне) means 'lamb' in Bulgarian.

This is my second long-term stay in Bulgaria. The first one was in summer of 2012, when I was writing some chapters for a tourist guide to Sofia.

I am now volunteering at Sofia City Library, which, in addition to valuable experience, gives me another six months at the interesting country Bulgaria. I am doing a shared blog as part of the library project - you can access my blog posts of the said project here.

On my free time I travel. The travelling can equally be a walk around a neighbourhood in Sofia and a trip somewhere further away. I am a big fan of water and swimming. It happens that my travels are often directed towards water. One of my summer quests is to find nice places to swim in & around Sofia so if you share similar passions you might eventually find some useful information here.

This blog is personal. I am putting to it my observations, experiences, travel notes; things that I have to say about the stay in Bulgaria. All the content that I was unable to put to the 'EVS at Sofia City Library' blog due to topic restrictions.

So, from my current stay in Bulgaria you will get two blogs, the 'work' one (EVS at Sofia City Library), and the more random personal one (this blog). If you want to see my portfolio of other writings - mostly in Lithuanian and mostly about travels - you can access it under this link.

All photos and texts (c) Agne Drumelyte, unless otherwise stated.

  2. My name is Merlin and I'm student from The Netherlands, majoring in Journalism.
For my study I'm going to write an article about migration in Bulgaria.

I came across your blog and I hope to get in touch with Bulgarian people.

In the western EU-countries the media told us that a big group of Bulgarian migrants would come to work and live here since 1-1-2014.
I know that not many Bulgarians do so and that's why I want to know 'why do Bulgarian people choose to stay in Bulgaria?'
I want to make it a positive article in which I hope to find out that people are very happy in Bulgaria and that the economy is growing and growing.

I was wondering if you could bring me in contact with the following people:
    -Bulgarian students
-Someone who has already worked in a Western EU-country, but returned to Bulgaria. -Someone who has no job and is looking for one.

I hope to hear from you.

    Greetings, Merlin
